Green Schools Committee Works Towards Travel Flag
Our Green Schools Committee is excited to take part in the Travel Flag initiative, promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly ways of getting to and from school. This important step in our Green Schools journey encourages students, staff, and families to reduce car use and embrace walking, cycling, scooting, and other eco-friendly travel options.
To kick off our Walk on Wednesday (WOW) campaign, we held a festive Santa Stroll on December 4th. Students and staff got into the holiday spirit, donning Santa hats and Christmas jumpers as they walked to school together. It was a fantastic way to launch our efforts to encourage more walking, cycling, and scooting while spreading some festive cheer!
As part of our commitment to the Travel Flag, we will continue with Walk on Wednesday (WOW) each week, encouraging as many students as possible to choose greener ways to travel. Walking to school not only helps the environment but also promotes physical activity and reduces traffic congestion around our school.
To track our progress, we are conducting travel surveys to understand how students currently travel and find ways to encourage greener choices. The information gathered will help us set goals and plan new initiatives.
By working together, we can make a real difference for our school and our planet. Let’s step forward for a greener future!
Stay tuned for updates on our journey towards the Travel Flag!
